Playing Pieces "Pairs of Squares Game" By Oliver Selfridge
Spider (January, 1994)
Media: Colored ink
These are playing pieces for a board game created by Oliver
Selfridge, one-time director of the Computer Museum in Boston.
I'm not sure what inspired me to draw from Roman themes to
illustrate this game, but there you are: the cat was based on a
charming Roman mosaic of a naughty cat who had just caught a
barnyard hen, while the dog came from the unfortunate pooch
preserved in the lava flow at Pompei.
